1879年,美国物理学家埃德温·赫伯特·霍尔发现,当电 流垂直于外磁场并通过导体时,载流子会发生偏转并产生附加 电场,让导体的两端产生电势差,这电势差被称为霍尔效应。
In year 1879, American physicist, Dr.Edwin Herbert Hall discovered that when current is perpendicular to the external magnetic field and passes through the conductor, the carriers deflect and generate an additional electric field, causing a potential difference on electric across the conductor. The potential difference is called hall effect. 
 

 
1980年左右,德国科学家冯·克利青发现了整数量子霍 尔效应,获得了1985年诺贝尔物理奖。

Around year 1980, German physicist, Dr.Klaus von Klitzing discovered the integer quantum hall effect of which he was awarded the year 1985 Nobel Prize in Physics.

In year 1982, American physicist, Horst Ludwig Stormer, Daniel CheeTsui and Robert Betts Laughlin discovered the fractional quantum hall effect when studying the quantum hall effect under a stronger magnetic field found. In year 1998 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded.

In year 2005, American scientist, Andre Geim and Kostya Novoselov discovered a semi-integer quantum Hall effect in graphene. In year 2010, Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded.
